Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response, lies our growth and our freedom.Victor Frankl

Based on cutting edge research, the experience of our therapeutic team, and earned wisdom from years of working with youth we have cultivated strategies to help youth learn, heal, and thrive.
Our work is Culturally Sensitive and grounded in the theories of Family Systems Theory, Attachment Theory, and Psychodynamic Theory.
We use a range of practices including Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Motivational Interviewing, and Yoga. Our support is solution-focused, trauma-focused, and person-centered.
We have experience helping youth address a range of issues including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, grief & loss, difficulties with concentration, self-esteem, identity development, relational distress, family of origin concerns, and major life changes.
We do not help the youth to grow or change. They have to do that themselves. We provide the container, support, connection and opportunities. Self-awareness, Insights, and Vivid Experiences happen. With these, youth are then able to make better choices. We are Human Experience Specialists.
The Gateway Method
We see disconnect as the root of most of the challenges we face today. Through years of successes we’ve discovered key principles for thriving. Our perspective is relational and identifies Four Roots for Healing Dis-connect. We call this “Growing a Human”.
Root 1: Authentic Relationship
We invest heavily in building rapport and authentic relationship with every youth we serve. Our main goal is to build the container for youth to become more self-aware. Building a safe and judgement free container allows one to build trust through genuine care and allows one to begin exploring a sense of self through emerging experiences.
Root 2: Nature
Nature immersions in both beauty and risk, provide powerful opportunities to develop focused, grounded, and open states. Experiencing the many facets of the life force is healing, instructive, and provides insightful metaphors for re-writing self-narratives, and future stories for our beautiful, big blue planet.
Root 3: Embodied Peak Experience
We use vivid, impactful, present moment flow states brought about by the intensity of physical, emotional, or perceptual sensations in nature to inform and heal our nervous systems. When a youth is more connected in their body, they gain self-awareness, sense-of-self, and are empowered to learn, heal and thrive.
Root 4: Helping Others
Research shows that people who thrive, including those who succeed in long-term recovery from traumatic events or substance use issues, are those who help others. Serving others, the community, or our environment develops empathy, compassion, and the empowerment to make a difference.
